Did Stardock ever release those "patches included" Elemental archival DVDs?
Published on April 2, 2011 By ebenezercrunch In War of Magic

One of the reasons I bought Elemental is because of a post from Brad (I believe) promising they'd release "archival DVDs" of Elemental every so often, so you'd have all the latest patches built in and ready to slip into your big fat Limited Edition box.

Was an Elemental archive DVD released yet, and if so, how can I go about getting my hands on one?

Thanks much,

-Crunch

Our military has a great internet connection for the most part. I don't know why they would need this.

You're not allowed to play games at work in the military- though I knew one dude who snuck Princess Maker onto the comps his last day.

Also, deployments.  Single-player games with great AI are good on deployments if you're an in the rear type.

This is something they said they'd do. They can't just back out now because they feel like it.

Like MP private servers for modded MP games, right?

A lot of stuff was said about WoM that didn't happen because of how the launch went. Just how it is.

Well, Frogboy has said "recently" that there will be an archival disk for WoM 1.4.

Best regards,
Steven.

There will be an archival based on v1.4.

@Tridus - there is a difference between pre-release feature considerations and post-release sales policies.

Can you put After the War on the disk as an option? Just think it would be a nice thing to offer the internetless. Maybe convince them to buy some.

So when you said this in the exact same post where you brought up the archival patches:

Eventually we plan to release custom servers so that players can make their own stuff but we won’t have that ready at release.

Part of that post was really meant to happen and part of it was just idle speculation?

You guys really need to clean this up in the future, this "we say we're doing stuff but only some of it we actually will do" thing is highly misleading. I mean it doesn't matter now given that WoM multiplayer is deader then Gadhafi, but making a habit of saying you'll do stuff then not doing it and saying "oh that was just speculation" is a really good way to piss customers off.

So are you saying that you want custom servers for WoM? Or is this just internet pwnage?

on Oct 21, 2011

You should assume anything with the words "plan" in it means "plan" not promise. A plan is, by definition, tentative.

I'm sorry you assumed that we were committing to a course of action rather than planning a course of action.  In the future, if I say in a forum post we're planning something you can assume just that -we plan to do it. But it is by no means definite.  If that "pisses" some people off I'm sorry for that.

Huzzah! Thanks so much for replying to me and going ahead with plans for an archival disc.

Impulse Anywhere disappeared? Oh hey, so it did.

Just back up your game directory. You miss out on the registry stuff, but usually it doesn't matter.
